Six of Our Favourite Rewards Cards on the High Street

20 December 2022

We’re heading into the festive season, and that means for many of us, we’ll be hitting the high street for festive food, drinks and gifts. Perhaps you’ve begun ticking items off your Christmas lists already, or perhaps you’re still thinking about what to buy your friends and family. Either way, you can make some savings while you’re shopping this holiday time.

We’ve made a list of six of our favourite loyalty cards that offer vouchers or money offers that you can use for your supermarket shops, fuel, clothing, streaming services, meals out, and more. Reduced prices, special offers, and even exclusive events are all at your fingertips with today’s top rewards cards!

  • Tesco Clubcard

The Tesco Clubcard has long been a popular choice, with over 17 million people having one. You can use your card for collecting points on fuel, fashion, food, and more when you shop online or instore.

When you accumulate 150 points, you can receive £1.50- worth of vouchers to put towards your next shop or to exchange for rewards with one of the Tesco Reward Partners which include big-name brands like Virgin, Disney+, English Heritage, and Hotels.com. Even better, Tesco offer exclusive prices for Clubcard holders, so you can save money on your grocery shop throughout the year.

  • Aldi App

Although Aldi has no loyalty card at the moment, the free to download Aldi app lets you browse all the most recent offers and product ranges, and buy Special buys, Everyday Collections, and Wines and Spirits via the app.

  • Sainsbury’s – Nectar Card

The Sainsbury’s Nectar card gives you points when you shop online or instore, with every £1 you spend earning you 1 point and 500 points being worth £2.50. You can also get points when you fill up with fuel at a Sainsbury’s petrol station.

If you use the app’s latest offers, you can collect three times more points which can all be used to reduce the price of your shopping bill or to gain money off eBay and Argos among other retailers.

  • M&S Sparks Card

Marks & Spencer has an M&S Sparks loyalty card which awards “Sparks” every time you shop instore or online, write a review, or shwop (put your pre-loved clothing in a shwop box instore). Each £1 you spend gives you 10 sparks, each review is worth 25 sparks and every shwop that is re-sold gains you 50 sparks.

  • Starbucks Rewards App

The Starbucks card allows you to earn rewards every time you buy that will eventually earn you free drinks. For each £1 spent, you’ll be awarded 3 stars, with 150 stars equalling one free drink. When you get 450 stars you reach Gold Level membership which lets you enjoy selected syrups, whipped cream, and extra espresso shots for free with your order.

  • Boots Advantage Card

Every time you shop at Boots you can collect 4 points for each £1 that you spend. You can then exchange your points for items online or instore. You’ll receive your own personalised offers via the app too, allowing you to gain even more points on certain items. You’ll also be able to enjoy the Boots Health & Beauty magazine free of charge, and can sign up to Boots’ many clubs including the Boots X, student discounts, Over 60s Rewards, and Parenting Club.

Our Top Tips

Maximise the amount you save this festive season by following our top three tips:

  • Check with your local high street independent stores, (including coffee shops, hairdressers, nail salons and retailers) to see if they run any loyalty schemes and sign up!
  • Only buy the offers that you actually want – it can be tempting to overspend just to get a discount or some extra points.
  • Go digital – add your loyalty cards to the digital wallet on your smartphone so you’ll have them handy at all times.
