COVID-19 FAQ’s Part 1

Statistics tell us that employees in the UK are no longer motivated by financial reward alone; in fact flexible working has become a popular request by many and recent research found that 47% of people questioned considered this the most desirable workplace benefit.

But what of those many small and medium-sized businesses that can’t always offer flexible options?  Luckily, 62% of respondents surveyed by CV Library would include company benefits and perks in their decision to find their next job.  In fact 13% would turn down a job if the organisation did not offer workplace perks and 71% of respondents believe all organisations should offer perks.

It is this requirement that a recent MetLife UK report focused on.  Surveying nearly 34,000 businesses employing 3.3million people.  Results showed that more than half (53%) of these small and medium-sized enterprises were looking to expand the benefits they offer as they focus on recruitment and retention.

Many are recognising that appreciated employees are happy employees and with the right benefits package you can retain your best people.  You might even save some money if your perks package is tailored to be as attractive as a higher salary, at a fraction of the cost.

At Corinthian we have helped hundreds of SMEs such as these create bespoke company benefits programmes to reward the true value of their staff.  As an independent consultancy we work with all the major providers of employee benefits.  We know their products and access great deals; from cycle schemes to lifestyle perks. We can offer the right advice and save client’s money.

If you are looking for affordable, effective and relevant ways to reward your team speak to an Employee Benefits Consultant at Corinthian Benefits on 0208 189 6100.

We are very excited to release a video explaining our new Pension Transfer Service and would love to hear what you think!

So many employers and employees are not taking advantage of this method of making pension contributions.  With employee contributions having increased in April this year, there has been no better time to look at introducing this benefit, or indeed increasing the employee uptake through engagement and communications.

At Corinthian, we would be delighted to help, so please give us a call.

Millennials have a “worrying lack” of awareness as to how pensions work, according to a recent survey.

The majority of those aged between 24 and 34 did not know what happens to pension savings, with over half thinking it is deposited in savings accounts and earning a fixed amount of interest.

The majority of these employees are now actively savings into workplace pensions, via auto-enrolment, so there is a clear need for employers to improve communications, understanding and engagement.

With statutory minimum contributions increasing this month, employees will want to understand more about their pension options than ever before and many will want direct and honest language in communications about their pensions, rather than the usual industry jargon.

At Corinthian Benefits we specialise in improving employee engagement and appreciation of the benefits provided by introducing a comprehensive communications exercise including the following:

  • Tailored presentations to different age groups
  • Individual one to one consultations
  • Personal member booklets outlining the benefits provided
  • Online access to personal benefit information

A recent survey showed that six out of 10 senior managers of SMEs said they would increase the benefits on offer within the next two years.

Around one in five said benefits which specifically address health and wellbeing would be their first choice.

SMEs are increasingly focusing on retaining and recruiting staff and as such recognise the role that a well-designed benefits package can play in addition to salary.

Smaller employers may struggle to attract and retain skilled employees if they cannot offer the benefits that many now expect at work.  However, some of these may be much more cost effective than many think.  For example, both group life and group income protection can cost as little as 0.2% and 0.5% of salary respectively.

At Corinthian Benefits, we do all the work so that you can concentrate on running your business.
